2011 Season In The Works
Welcome to another season at Dry Dock Farm. I would like to welcome all our new farm families that have just joined us this year. We start this new year off with the lose of Mark Wagstaff my father. He passed away March 4.2011. He will definity be missed by many and be missed at the farm this year. My husband Frankie Hunter, and I Leah, our children Sierra and Tyler will be continuing my fathers dream with my mother Michelle. We are dedicating this season to his memory of the 5 years him and my mother Michelle worked so hard to start their business and their farm. So as our program begins our family will be growing the best vegetables for our members and my father.
We have all our plants started in our hoop house. We have already growing in the hoop house assorted vegetables including green onions, cherry belle radishes, Nantes carrots, Buttercrunch head lettuce, and Asian greens. Because of the cool and wet spring so far we have just been able to plant in the garden our Chedder cauiflower, Mixed leaf lettuce, Spinach, several types of head lettuces, Snow peas, and our Stone head cabbage. All to be ready for our starting season.
Other farm news we have our geese and ducks sitting on eggs in the barn, so hopefully we will have baby goslings and ducklings soon. We have had several baby chicks hatch and our Royal Palm and Bourbon Red turkeys sitting nests. We our currently putting up 2 new hoop houses, one for our starter seedlings and the other for planting.
We will be at Riverhills Market Spring Event on April 16, 2011 selling our started tomatoe, herbs, peppers, and flower plants. Along with our assorted chickens.
Were really looking forward to a wonderful growing season. And looking forward to our 4th CSA here. I will be posting new pictures on our site soon of our growing season.
Thank you for supporting another growing season.
