Summer Heat

Posted 7/7/2011 12:05pm by Michelle Wagstaff.

Hi Everyone,

Well the summer heat has set in, and things are dry.  Weve had to water like crazy and shade some of our stuff that cant stand the heat as well.  Our heirloom tomatoe plants are going crazy.  We hope to have tomatoes by the end of July.  The egg plant and peppers are doing good also, they like the heat....I dont.  We just cleaned out the green house yesterday and our ready to do more planting.  We are going to put cucumbers in the hoop house, so hopefully we will have cucumbers and tomatoes until october, when the program ends, and maybe into the winter program also.

We finally got the pool set up this weekend, and we cant keep the kids out.  Their in it before breakfast, lunch and before & after dinner.  I think their going to turn into fish.  The dogs hate the heat, and the birds are not happy either.  It has messed with their laying.  I dont blame them, would you want to sit in a cramped box trying to squeeze out a egg, no thank you.  Well not much else going on around the farm.

Everyone will be getting their chickens this week, and next week.  There is still time to order if you havent yet..and the beef will be in the 11th, so we will contact members that have ordered and have a special delivery for that.  We also have a pork producer now as well, and the information will go out with the newsletter.

     Hope everyone stays cool.......
